Bless the Lord

Psalms 103:20-22 ESV
“Bless the Lord, O you his angels, you mighty ones who do his word, obeying the voice of his word! Bless the Lord, all his hosts, his ministers, who do his will! Bless the Lord, all his works, in all places of his dominion. Bless the Lord, O my soul!”

David commands that the vast creations of God would stand and bless God. How do we bless God?

The King James Version uses ‘bless the Lord’, but the modern translations write it as ‘praise the Lord.’ The Hebrew word translated ‘bless’ or ‘praise’ means literally ‘to kneel’, the implication being to kneel in worship.

So, David says basically, “Kneel before the Lord all you angels those that do as He commands. Kneel before the Lord all the people that are called by His name. Kneel before the Lord all the works of His hands (stars, moon, planets, trees, flowers, birds, animals).”

Then David speaks to himself and says, “you David, the Spirit that is inside of me, you kneel before the Lord.”

This morning, whether we physically kneel before God or if we kneel in our hearts before God, the idea is giving God the glory and honor He deserves first thing in the morning, all through the day and in the evening as we lay our head to rest, give Him praise. Bless God, be a blessing and give Him the honor He deserves.

Prayer:
“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.” Psalms 103:1-5ESV)
