Works
Ephesians 2:8-10 ESV
“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship (His masterpiece), created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
We did nothing to earn salvation, as a matter of fact, we did the opposite we were running from God or sinking deep in sin when God came and pulled us out and set our feet on solid ground.
There are no works that we can do to earn grace and salvation. But when we come to Jesus and confess our sins and confess Him as Lord of our lives, there are works that He lays out for us to do. Paul says that “…we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works…”
Before we were born God had designed works for us to do when it came time to walk with God. What are these works?
Do you remember the time that you prayed for someone, even though you needed prayer yourself?
Do you remember the time that you gave to someone possibly a meal or a financial gift just because you felt that it was the right thing to do?
Do you remember the time you took someone to church even though it was out of your way? Do You remember the times that God brought someone to your mind, and you said a prayer of faith for them believing God for them?
Do you remember the time that You witnessed to someone, maybe not a sermon but just a few words of love and encouragement about our God?
Do You remember the mission trip that you took, even though you did not have the time or resources to go?
These are some of the works for the Lord, and there are a million more. He wants us to be His hands, feet, heart and mouthpiece to the world.
Prayer:
Jesus, use me, in whatever way, fashion and form that You want to use me. My life is in Your hands, I am open and receptive to You. In Your name Lord Jesus, AMEN!
