Teach Me I Lord
Psalms 143:10 NIV
“Teach me to do your will, for you are my God! Let your good Spirit lead me on level ground!”
This Psalm is quite profound as well as simple; David asks God to TEACH him God’s will for his life. Quite frankly we all want to know God’s will for our lives. But to TEACH us His will takes a few components. We have to be willing to be still long enough for Him to teach us. We have to be patient for Him to work in His will and work out our own desires to have things our way.
We have to be willing to change. We have to be willing to trust God explicitly. We have to believe He is working out all things for our good even if it does not look like things are going out way.
Which takes us to David’s second part of this Psalm, “Let your good Spirit lead me on level ground!” We like level ground, we want level ground, but often we find our life’s experiences on rocky soil, with boulders in the way.
So, why do we find ourselves on this rocky soil? Because we step off the path most of the time, or we are going through a growing stage spiritually and it appears rocky.
Don’t fear these times, Habakkuk says, “The Lord God is my strength; he will give me the speed of a deer and bring me safely over the mountains (the rough places) (Habakkuk 3:19).
Prayer:
Lord, we want You to TEACH us Your will. Help us to stop, listen and understand Your ways for our lives. Help us to walk with You. Hold our hands as we walk through this life with all of its tests, trials, and complications until we get to the place where You want us to be. In Your name Lord Jesus, Amen!
