Abundant Peace

Psalms 37:11 ESV
“But the meek shall inherit the land and delight themselves in abundant peace.”

The “meek,” in this context, is not a reference to those who are timid, shy or even weak. The Hebrew word used here implies humility. Those who humbly submit themselves to the will of God might be powerful in their personalities, but still “meek” in their lack of arrogance.

To be powerful in personality with no humility is in violation to receiving their inheritance from God. The meek will inherit all that was promised to them (the first promise), and they will delight themselves in abundant peace, (the second promise).

Philippians 4:6-7 ESV says, “…Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.  And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Paul tells us to not be anxious, then we will have the peace that passes all understanding. David has told us many times in Psalms 37 to put away fretting, then we will have abundant peace.

If I were to try and put in words to describe the peace that God gives me, I would fail miserably. I cannot fathom trying to explain abundant peace that passes all understanding. This kind of peace just has to be experienced for ourselves.

Prayer:
Lord, I humble myself before You, not just to receive an inheritance but to receive grace and mercy from You. I do strongly desire abundant peace, the peace that passes all understanding and to abide in Your arms of love. In Your name Holy Father, Amen!
