Random Acts of Kindness
Luke 10:30,33-35
“Jesus replied, ‘A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him and beat him and departed, leaving him half dead. But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was, and when he saw him, he had compassion. He went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he set him on his own animal and brought him to an inn and took care of him. And the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, ‘Take care of him, and whatever more you spend, I will repay you when I come back.’”
This Samaritan didn’t have to stop and help the Jewish man in this story, in most cases the Jews would not ever help a Samaritan. This Samaritan obviously had a heart.
There doesn’t have to be a rhyme or a reason to do a random act of kindness, it is just supposed to be who we are. What are some practical things we can do, not to receive credit, but just to be like Jesus.
1. Smile more often. When you smile at someone, they will most likely smile back.
2. Compliment- Make a point to compliment others more often.
3. Listen with your full attention – When we really listen to others, it shows that we care about them and value what they have to say.
4. Donate- clothes or food to needy people, whenever you can.
5. Forgive others- we all make mistakes and we all have bad days. Forgive!
6. Be kind even when it’s difficult.
7. Think before you speak and be careful with your words.
Prayer:
Lord, random acts of kindness are in me, and they are destined to get out. Teach me to give kindness, respect, and honor to whoever I can, not expecting to receive anything in return. In Your name Lord Jesus, Amen!
