Why Read the Bible Everyday

1 Timothy 3:15-17 NLT
“You have been taught the holy Scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus.  All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.”

As Paul told Timothy in this passage, he grew up hearing the words of God, many that are reading this devotion grew up hearing and reading the words of God.

1. Paul says that the scriptures bring us wisdom for salvation. Psalms 119:98-99 says, “Your commandment makes me wiser than my enemies, for it is ever with me. I have more understanding than all my teachers, for your testimonies are my meditation.”

2. Paul says that reading or knowing the scriptures teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives.

3. Paul also says that the scriptures corrects us when we are wrong.

4. The scriptures also teach us to do what is right.

5. Paul also echoes the words of Jesus in John 15, when we keep His commandments, it will prepare and equip us to do every good work.

If we had a manual for life experiences, hopefully we would read it and know what to do and what to expect. Well, it just so happens that we do have a manual and so much more in God’s words.

Prayer:
Father, never let me let a day go by without meditating on Your words. In Your Matchless name Father God, Amen!
