The Good Soil
Luke 8:8,11,15 ESV
“And some fell into good soil and grew and yielded a hundredfold. Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. As for that in the good soil, they are those who, hearing the word, hold it fast in an honest and good heart, and bear fruit with patience.”
Listen to Jesus’s words on those who are like the good soil.
1) They hear His words.
2) They hold on to His words.
3) They hold on to His words with an honest and a good heart, that’s the “miracle grow” in the soil.
4) They are patient, waiting for the right seasons, so they can bear perfect fruit (good works).
5) How much fruit? One hundredfold (100 percent) of the seeds that were planted grew to produce fruit. 100%!!
The importance of good soil cannot be over stressed. I have tried to grow a garden in our soil at our house several times, our soil is good for growing weeds only. So, the last garden that I grew I brought in good soil and made planting beds and the garden was wonderful.
I have seen thousands of souls hear God’s divine words over the years. Some were pathway soil Christians, the culture and times offered too much for them to have the Word of God take hold in their life.
Some were rocky soil Christians, and the word excited them, but it did not change their life. With some Christians, the cares of this life choke out the wonderful words of God.
But praise be to God, I have seen thousands that are good soil Christians, that have taken in the words of God, cultivated the words of God in their life, and produced a yield of fruit so bountiful, it cannot be measured except to say one hundredfold.
Prayer,
Lord God, You have given to us the soil to make ready for the seeds of God, the words of life. You have given us the divine seeds planted with care. You have watered that word, day after day, and year after year. Those seeds have produced more fruit than we could ever imagine, thank You, Amen!
