My Times Are In Your Hands

Psalms 31:14-15a, 19
“But I trust in you, O Lord; I say, “You are my God.” My times are in your hand… Oh, how abundant is Your goodness, which You have stored up for those who fear You and worked for those who take refuge in You, in the sight of the children of mankind!”

None of us know what the day will hold for us, much less what tomorrow holds. What brings us peace and security is knowing that our time here on earth is in God’s hands He knows the number of our days (Job 14:5) and He will bring us to fulfillment of those days.

Nothing happens to us without God’s knowledge or His sovereignty. Psalms 139:2-6 says, “You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar. You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways.  Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether.  You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high; I cannot attain it.”

David said in verse 19 of today’s passage; “Oh, how abundant is Your goodness, which You have stored up for those who fear You…” Coupled with that he says in Psalms 16:11, “You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”

All I can add to these great verses of promises is this, God has been so good to us, better than we deserve. He looks beyond our indiscretions and blesses us as though we were righteous.

That’s because of His Son we are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. 2 Corinthians 5:21 says, ‘For our sake he made Him (Jesus) to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.”

Prayer:
Lord God, thank you that our lives are in Your hands. Thank you that You know the number of our days, and You will fulfill Your desire in us. We will accomplish what You set in order for us to do. We do not have to fear that we have failed You if we give our lives completely over to You. In Your mighty name Lord God, Amen!
