Where Does My Help Come From?
Psalms 121:2-4 NIV
“My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip—He who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, He who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.”
Our help comes from the Master and Creator of the universe. We are not trusting in luck or as I heard the other day, “the universe is righting my wrongs.” I don’t believe in luck, and I certainly don’t believe the universe has some sort of cosmic power to right my wrongs.
Our help comes from the Lord, He is the one we will trust for this day. He is the one who is leading and guiding. He is the one who has our back and is our vindication.
When the Psalmist says that the Lord will not let our foot slip, He is indicating that the place where we are right with God. He establishes our going in and our coming out. He makes the path for us to follow.
I love the fact that God is watching us individually and collectively at all times. He does not dose off, He doesn’t get bored, He doesn’t take a nap. We are serious business to God; He takes everything in our lives serious.
He plans our life out, He makes a way for us to follow. Even if we get off the path, He puts obstacles and people in our lives to get us back on course. Our God is faithful and true, an ever-present help in times of trouble (Psalms 46:1)
Prayer:
Lord, I have no reason to fear or worry, You are always for me, and You are always watching over my life night and day, 24/7. Thank You! Take today and make it be exactly what You want today to be in my life. In my course of actions today, lead, guide, direct, preserve, prosper, protect me. In the loving name of Jesus I ask, Amen!
