Receiving Knowledge
Proverbs 21:11 AMP
“When the scoffer is punished, the naive [observes the lesson and] becomes wise; But when the wise and teachable person is instructed, he receives knowledge.”
A person that may be considered naïve may have little experience or knowledge. However, they can learn not to commit crimes, do evil, or hurt someone if they are open-minded. They may see the consequences and make sensible choices to avoid them, they can learn from other’s mistakes.
In a world riddled with compromise where the rule of law is vague at best, it will be hard for the naïve to see the consequences of sin and criminal activity. We will have to win over the naïve to wisdom through Jesus Christ.
When a teachable person is instructed, they receive the knowledge with openness of heart and mind. The wise will see the correction, admonishment, instructions as a way to further increase in wisdom.
For years, my personal Bible studies have yielded instruction yes, but often correction and admonishment as well. I know God knows exactly what I need, and He knows I am open and receptive to what He needs to tell me every day.
I do not consider the admonishment as a beat down or punishment. It is never that, but I receive the corrections as well as I receive the encouragements as the same, nuggets of gold found in God’s words.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, teach me, instruct me, correct me in the errors of my ways. Anything from You is a building block to reach higher heights with You. In Your name Lord Jesus, Amen!
