Bring to Remembrance

John 14:26 ESV
“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, He will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.”

As we get older we tend to forget things, where we put our keys, did we lock the door when we left the house… I find it amazing when I read something in God’s word, although I forget some things, the things that I need seem to come up just at the right moment.

Whether I need the scripture or I need it for someone else, the memory recall from the Holy Spirit works well. How? The Holy Spirt has a way of bringing up the things of God that we need, when we need it. Jesus said that Holy Spirit would teach us all things, and He would remind us of what Jesus had said or the word of God has said.

Specifically in context, the Holy Spirit brought back to memory all the things that Jesus had taught the disciples as they spread the gospel. Four men wrote about these things in the first four books of the New Testament as they were inspired by the Holy Spirit.

The disciples did not have Bibles, nothing written down, no script, but they went everywhere preaching what Jesus had done. The Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, brings the things of God to our remembrance as we need it. But you and I have to read it, to get it inside our hearts and minds, for the Holy Spirit to bring it to our recall.

Prayer:
Holy Spirit, the things we have learned, read, heard about our Lord and all that God has done for us, bring them to mind as we witness. In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Amen!
