Psalms 3:4-7a
“I cried aloud to the Lord, and he answered me from His holy hill. Selah I lay down and slept, I woke again, for the Lord sustained me. I will not be afraid of many thousands of people who have set themselves against me all around. Arise, O Lord! Save me, O my God!”
Finding peace and contentment in the middle of trouble was one of David’s strengths, because he had confidence in a Mighty God. When he was young, David walked out into a battlefield with confidence in a Mighty God. He went out and stood against a seasoned warrior, Goliath, who was twice his height.
Who does that? Only someone that knows that God is with him. David did not brag on his exploits, he bragged on his God! David could find peace with God so readily that he said after he cried out to God, that he laid down and fell asleep and woke up refreshed because God sustained him as he rested.
David felt secure in God’s hands, he knew that nothing, not even thousands of people that may have wished him harm, mattered when God is with him. David knew that nothing could happen to him unless God allowed it to happen. God only allowed things to happen in David’s life to make him stronger and wiser and to get him on the right path.
Prayer:
Father, give us all that peace and contentment that David had with You. Bring rest and refreshing to us Your children. In the Mighty name of Jesus, Amen!
