Obedience is the Acceptable Responce of Faith
Hebrews 11:8-10 ESV
“By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. By faith he went to live in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, heirs with him of the same promise. For he was looking forward to the city that has foundations, whose designer and builder is God.”
Abraham didn’t choose God, God chose Abraham. God told Abraham to get out of his place of dwelling (comfort zone) and move to a foreign land. A land that Abraham knew nothing about, and didn’t know what the plan was when he got there. The proper action to Faith is obedience.
We live in an information society where we want to know who, what, why, where and when before we ever take one step. Don’t get me wrong, caution in this world is good, but trusting God is better.
First, make sure who is talking to you! Then if you’re not sure, check it out in the Bible and see if it lines up with God’s actions in history. Then if you are sure it is God, get up and go after Him. As I said, the proper action to Faith is obedience, also, moving is the evidence of Faith in action.
God told Abraham to get out and that is what he did. His faith acted in obedience and obedience birthed action. I used to say this all the time; “Be who you are supposed to be and do what you are supposed to be doing.”
Prayer:
Lord, it is Monday, as we get up, we call upon You. Then we get our marching orders from you and we put boots on the ground and we spring into action. Never let grass grow under our feet, keep us moving and working for you until our days on earth are over. Amen
