Finding Happiness
Ecclesiastes 2:24-26a
“A man can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in his work. This too, I see, is from the hand of God, or without Him, who can eat or find enjoyment? To the man who pleases Him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness…”
I’m a worker, always have been. To say I find enjoyment in my work is very true but misleading. If my work goes well, I do feel fulfilled, but if it goes bad, even though I gave it my best, I feel like I need to try harder. I know what you are thinking, reward should follow giving it my best. True, but with me, the edge to do better always makes me to consider the work of my hands in a more careful light.
My TRUE fulfillment is knowing the Father is always helping me, in every situation, to be better, so I take pride in everything that I do despite the outcome. In the end, “To the man who pleases Him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness…” that is my energy to keep going!
Prayer:
Father, in you is my fulfillment, joy, peace and the reason I can lay my head down at night and rest, knowing tomorrow, if I wake, I will continue in Your strength, as You smile down on me.
