Everlasting Father
Isaiah 9:6
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called… Everlasting Father…”
Some people didn’t have a great maternal father, so for some, it is hard to correlate God as a Great Father. Just a few ideas of what a great father looks like; A great father loves unconditionally. He provides not only for the needs of the children, but he provides guidance, and protection. He leads by example and imparts wisdom. When the time of independence comes for the mature children, he remains faithful but he is not intrusive.
The great father is available, willing to help and provides mercy when the mature children wander off the right pathway. In the same way, this Child (Jesus) to be born will become a king who will be a father to all who are His. He will protect and provide for them. His role as father will continue perpetually,
in other words He will be there for us forever, there will be no end to His love, mercy, guidance and protection. Whether you had a great maternal father or not, the Messiah is fulfilling your need for a great, great Father.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank you, not just for filling a void, but for being the Supreme example of what a great, great Father is in our lives. You greatness, Your love, mercy, and affection toward us never changes, no matter how many times we step off the path, You rescue us, sometimes from ourselves!
