If You Don’t want God’s Blessings, Someone Else Will
2 Samuel 6: 7-11 ESV
“And David was afraid of the Lord that day, and he said, “How can the ark of the Lord come to me?” So David was not willing to take the ark of the Lord into the city of David. But David took it aside to the house of Obed-edom the Gittite. And the ark of the Lord remained in the house of Obed-edom the Gittite three months, and the Lord blessed Obed-edom and all his household.”
Sometimes we give up the blessings of God for no good reason. David allowed the Ark to be carried on a cart, when he knew priests were to carry the sacred Ark of the covenant as set forth by God. So when Uzzah was struck down for touching the Ark, David got angry and put the ark in Obed-edom’s house.
As is typical, where God’s presence is, His blessings will be there also. So while King David was afraid and angry with God concerning the death of Uzzah, Obed-edom reaped the benefits for housing the presence of God.
We do that sometimes, we know that coming into the presence of God at home or church can bring us blessings, yet we opt out. To the ones who want the blessings, come into His presence, He has a whole storehouse of blessings just for you!
Prayer:
Father, to the best of my ability, I want all the blessings that You have set aside for me. I will never knowingly turn away Your blessings!
