God Can When we Can’t

1 Samuel 30:3-6 ESV
“When David and his men reached Ziklag, they found it destroyed by fire and their wives and sons and daughters taken captive. So David and his men wept aloud until they had no strength left to weep.

David’s two wives had been captured—Ahinoam of Jezreel and Abigail, the widow of Nabal of Carmel.  David was greatly distressed because the men were talking of stoning him; each one was bitter in spirit because of his sons and daughters. But David found strength in the Lord his God.”

Sometimes we reach a limit of what we can stand. Outside pressures, stress, bad things happen, people get upset with us. Sometimes, we can’t fix things, sometimes we can, but if we try to fix things on our own, we typically make it worse.

When go to the Father, and seek His help, He brings a peace most do not understand. He brings strength, courage, and a calm, and the greatest thing He brings is love, and we feel like we can do anything with Him by our side.

In this story, David found strength in the Lord. When David was done with His one on one time with God, he and his men went and captured their families and livestock back, but they came back with more than the enemy took! That’s God’s providence and overcoming strength and power.

Prayer:
Father, when the pressure is way too much, teach me to run to You first! You will see me through.
