Answering a Fool
Proverbs 26:4 ESV
“Don’t answer the foolish arguments of fools, or you will become as foolish as they are.”
Lately, the foolishness of man has been rampant. Foolish people say what they want to say, no matter the consequences. The rants of foolish people I will not even give credence to, it’s pointless. Intellegent, spiritfilled Christians need to keep their actions pure, their words should be calculated and full of the Holy Spirit.
Don’t listen to foolish people less we start to believe their foolishness. Paul writes, “Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.” (Colossians 4:6 ESV)
Jesus said, “The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.” (Luke 6:45 ESV)
By the words of our Lord, we know what is in the heart of the foolish person. Lies and deception fill the airwaves, we must learn to listen with Spirit filled ears.
Prayer:
Lord let my words be few. Teach me to speak directly. calculating my words to produce the greater good. Do not let me retaliate against someone else by my words or get into foolish arguments. Teach me to let the Holy Spirit guide my words and my ears.
