He Who Began the Work
Philippians 1:6 ESV
“And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”
Paul wrote this passage as an encouragement to the Philippian church. It was not easy times for the church, persecution was on the rise. Paul sends this letter to tell the Philippian church to let them know, what God starts, He finishes.
Paul told the church that at the day of Jesus Christ, when Jesus comes back for the bride of Christ, all the hard work that they had accomplished, while reaching souls for Jesus Christ, would be rewarded. This passage should bring us encouragement as well. The work that Jesus Christ has done through us will be rewarded as well.
What’s more, any work that Jesus starts in us, He will complete that work as long as we stay steadfast in Him. If Jesus has given us gifts and talents, and we use those gifts and talents, He perfects our work and brings us contentment and fulfillment. He who began a good work in each of us will bring it to completion, now and at the day of Jesus Christ.
Prayer:
Lord, what You started in me so many years ago, I trust You to bring that work to completion for Your glory.
