Everyday Heroes of Faith
Romans 15:1-4 ESV
“We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves.”
We celebrate the Heros in the Old Testament in Hebrews 11, but what about in our day, who are the heros? We can point to missionaries that sacrificed their family, their finances and even their quality of life, yes they could be called heroes. You have people that minister in inner cities where there are drugs, violence, and devastation, yes, they could be called heroes.
Honestly, if we are being who we are supposed to be everyday, if we who are strong bear with the failings of the weak, and really bear with them with compassion and love, if we put them first and not our own agenda and as the passage says, not just please ourselves, then we are heroes.
It’s not enough to think about people, it’s not enough to believe we are concerned about people, we truly have to put ourselves aside and reach out to those who are hurting and need comfort and care. We can’t say that we have done our part, let someone else step up, that’s not a hero, that’s someone that says what I’ve done is good enough.
The world needs heroes not just in the remote parts of the world, not just in inner cities but the world needs God’s people to touch people on every corner, and the remote places and even in the church.
Prayer:
Lord, here am I send me and I will say, yes Lord, I will go where you send me!
