Forgiveness is Not Conditional
Romans 5:8 ESV
“But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
We did not do anything to deserve God’s love. He just freely forgave us and sent His Son to die for us to pay the price for our lives.
Have you ever had someone in your life that you have forgiven a thousand times and they just keep finding new ways to upset you? We have all had those kind of friends. We have to forgive just like God forgives. Why you may ask?
In the Lord’s prayer, Jesus says “Forgive us our debts AS WE FORGIVE our debtors.” That’s hard to swallow but that is the requirement the Lord set.
I wrote this devotion right after I had to forgive someone that I did not feel like forgiving, but I knew in my heart what I had to do! If we want God to forgive, we must forgive AND not hold it against our offender.
Prayer:
Father, I was not worthy of Your love, but while I was still a sinner, You still loved me so much, You forgave me and gave me Your Son as a seal of my forgiveness. Teach me to be more like You!
