Psalms 27:1 NLT
“The Lord is my light and my salvation, so why should I be afraid? The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble?”
I woke up the other morning a bit afraid of something that had happened in a dream. As I gained my senses I realized it was just a dream. My first thought was, I’m a child of God, He is my strength and stronghold, why should I fear. But fear is a cunning device of the enemy! When we least expect it, fear creeps up on us and overtakes us.
Fear is a tool the devil uses against us to destroy our lives. It begins as a thought and then creates emotions that rule us. Fear is such a common way that Satan attacks people’s lives, he uses it to manipulate people and keep them out of God’s will. When we fear, we are not using faith, so fear can destroy our faith or our faith can conquer our fears, it’s our choice.
So, I go back to the beginning question David asks in our Psalm, “The Lord is my (our) light and my (our) salvation, so why should I (we) be afraid?”
Prayer:
Father, fear is powerful, but You are ALL powerful. With You in my life, why should I be afraid? You can conquer any foe!
