1 Peter 1:3 ESV

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!  According to his great mercy, He has caused us to be born again to a living hope  through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead…”

Peter is writing this letter to sojourners (temporary dwellers)more than likely Gentiles that are living under oppression in Asia Minor (Turkey). He begins by reminding them of God’s mercy. Most of the time we know we are supposed to worship God but sometimes we get down under the oppression of the world and we forget why we worship God. We sometimes just go through the motions.

This passage is your reminder today of why we owe God all the praise, glory and honor. Because of His mercy He has as caused us to be born again into a living hope through Jesus.
