John 21: 15 ESV

“When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “‘Simon, son of John, do you love (Agape) (the highest form of love, like God loves us) me more than these?”’ He said to him, ‘“Yes, Lord; you know that I love (Phileo) (with a brother type love) you.”’

Peter had lost his commitment and was down on himself because he failed Jesus. Jesus, wanting to restore Peter and asked him a simple question, “do you love me like I love you?” As many times as we have given up and or lost our commitment to God, like Peter, And Jesus turns to us in those times and asks us “do you love me”, What will the answer honestly be, agape or phileo?
