The Morning is a Perfect Time
Psalms 5:3 ESV
“O Lord, in the morning you hear my voice; in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for You and watch.”
Secretly I have always been a morning person. I say secretly because the mornings always meant hope to me even as a boy. The night was over, a new day was dawning.
I lived with fears of the nights as a child. I’m not really sure where that stemmed from, but I had a few advocates in my childhood years. One was music, classical or even piano music was needed as I fell asleep. The other was a picture of Jesus at the foot of my bed that had a small light attached to it. Seeing the face of Jesus always brought me comfort.
Older now, I still see hope in a new day. The morning to me means a fresh start. Yesterday is over, I can do nothing more for yesterday. I now look forward to a chance to make a new day count.
I typically say in my mind as I begin in prayer, thank you Father, for a brand-new day, I have never seen this day, so the possibilities are wide open. To start the morning by saying, oh no, it’s Monday or whatever day you despise, doesn’t work for me. Each day has hope and possibilities.
When David said in this in this Psalm, that he prepares a sacrifice, and then he watches, he is basically saying, “I start the day by seeking God and searching for His favor.” Don’t fear today, you have never seen this day before, or ever again, make the most out of it, seek God and watch what He does for you.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, early in the morning will I rise up and seek You. You are my song and my delight today. Have Your will today, Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. In Your name Lord Jesus I pray, Amen!
