Romans 15:1-2 ESV
“We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to build him up.”
We live in a selfish society. Most people, in desperate times, go into self-preservation mode. As children of God we are supposed to be as Christ to the world and help those who cannot help themselves. Many people believe the Bible states that “God helps those who help themselves,” but it does not. In fact God helps the helpless. Dependence on God is where He meets us at our need.
We as Christians are to do the same with the weak that we encounter, not to enable them, but to lift them up, give them a helping hand, to meet them at their need.
Paul says; that “we who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves. We are surrounded by enough selfishness, let’s fulfill our obligation; and bear with the failings of the weak.
Prayer:
Father, sometimes I get so busy, I forget to look around and see who needs a hand. Help me to remember to meet people at their needs, then I will be able to touch their hearts.
