Peace
Philippians 4:6-7 ESV
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Be anxious for nothing is a command, not an option. Undue care is an intrusion into that which belongs to God alone. When we are anxious and stay anxious we are in command of our situations and we take them out of the hands of God.
So what do we do? We Pray and give supplication: These two aspects of prayer are similar, but distinct. Prayer is a broader word that can mean all of our communication with God, which should be an all day process, but supplication directly asks God to do something for us.
We are in anxious times, there is no denying that, but Paul says we need to ask God very specifically what we need to do to get rid of the anxiety.
As in my life when stress gets the best of me, it causes physiological problems. I have Afib that for me is not a heart problem but is stress induced according to the doctors. I can decompress all I want but shutting down the thought process is difficult at best.
Learning to give it all to God even in the smallest difficulties takes control, extreme concentration and repetition. I have to keep giving the small and the great stresses to God in order to get the peace I need to overcome. Now, I have learned when even the slightest stress begins, I start giving it to God.
Prayer:
Father, I was fearfully and wonderfully made, but in life’s journey a learned trate was to stress and become anxious and bottle it inside and try to handle it myself.
Well, that doesn’t work! I need you to help me know the onslaught of these stress related thoughts and help me to give them to You! In return You will give me the peace that no one can replicate and no one truly understands, it’s just perfect peace.
