Storms
Philippians 4:6-7 ESV
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.ā
This life always has mental, spiritual, and physical storms that we endure in our walk with the Lord. Things like people disappointing us, family issues, maybe a death in the family, a bad break up, or money issues. Why does God allow these storms?
Sometimes God has to allow storms in our lives to get our attention. We get busy, we get into routines, we forget about what pleases God, and who we are supposed to be in Christ. God has a perfect will for us and a perfect plan for our lives. He set that plan in motion before we were born. Our best opportunity is to find the will of God.
Sometimes we need to be reminded that obedience to God is an absolute must in order to live a joyful, fulfilled life. So, God allows these storms to come into our lives to remind us to communicate with God and hear and read what He has to say to us.
Sometimes these storms of life are times of pruning. I know in my life pruning takes place on a regular basis, and then sometimes I feel God coming back and pruning deeper when Iām still not producing fruits for His purpose like I should be.
We try to pray away these storms of life, but sometimes God walks us through these storms. As long as God is there, we are ok, we can make it through the storm.
Want to find the will of God for your life? ā1) present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. (2) Do not be conformed to this world, (3) but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.ā (Romans 12:1-2)
Prayer:
Lord, teach us to call on You, to seek Your face. Teach us when times get tough to not try to figure things out on our own, but to look to You. Bring a friend or loved one alongside of us to pray with us to know Your will, or to find a good strong Christian to counsel us. Mostly teach us to lean on You and not our own understanding. Lord, here in Florida, we are facing a real storm. Protect us and our families, protect our homes and property, bring us peace in the middle of this storm, walk us through Lord. In Your name we ask, Amen!
