Jeremiah 17:7 ESV
“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.”
Those who trust in God are like the trees that are close to water, it reaches out its roots and is fed continuously. That kind of tree has lush green leaves and the sweetest fruit. I’m not a grapefruit fan but if you have ever had Indian River grapefruit it is delicious. The best part of this verse is the tree is not anxious in drought because it always has what it needs to sustain it.
So God is saying to Israel and us, as we trust God, that trust and faith in him will sustain us in anxious times and we will gain strength from Him to be not only productive but well rounded people, Strong and sturdy no matter the storms of this life.
Prayer:
Father make me that kind of strong, sturdy tree. As I trust in you, that I will be not only strong and faithful but also be an example for others.
