Casting Down Thoughts or Ideals

2 Corinthians 10:5 ESV

“We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ…”

I have used this verse before as a source to curb our own thoughts and imaginations, but now there comes a time to use this for those who are part of our family, friends, fellowship and even our country. We live in a day and time that what people think in their minds they feel the need to verbalize to control the thoughts of others. Gullibility of some to hear a report on TV and take it as gospel has played with the minds of many inside and outside the church. Most of what we hear these days on the news is just opinions, not facts. These people are called commentators not reporters. They are only stating their belief or opinion of what has happened. A reporter reports what exactly happened in an event. I’ve grown tired of how people are being led astray by people’s opinions, ideas and personal thoughts. Numerous ungodly philosophies hold people in bondage, and those spiritual “fortresses” need to be demolished. It is up to the Christian not only to pull down the strongholds in our own lives and minds but also to pull down the strongholds in the lives and minds of our family members, friends, and the people of our community and those in the United States. Cast down imaginations and every lofty opinion that sets itself up against the truth and have led millions astray. Take captive every false Idea and opinion in the name of Jesus Christ.

Prayer:

Lord, today in our family, friends and those of our community and country, cast down every lofty opinion that sets itself up against You and the truth. Take every thought that is not from You and of You, and make it captive to obey You and only display the truth. Cause those in our family and friends, community and nation not to be swayed by false opinions or ideals. You called us to use discernment, today I pray discernment especially on Your people. In Your name Lord Jesus, Amen!
