Forget About It!
Isaiah 43: 18-19
“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old.” “Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?” “I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”
In Isaiah 43 God wanted Israel to move on beyond the sins, beyond the rebellion, beyond the idolatry and now beyond the exile into Babylon and move beyond the pain of the past. In this passage God even tells Israel let’s start fresh. Don’t set your mind on the pain but also don’t live in the past.
Let’s make new memories, let there be a new relationship between Me, as your Creator and Redeemer and you as recipient and faithful children. Sometimes we need a reset, forget about all the things that went wrong and allow God to heal our hearts and minds. Sometimes we also need to make new memories of joy and fulfillment.
I have times in my life that I remember things that brought me joy and it is easy to use those things to think how great God was to me. But God also wants to make new memories, new times of blessing and peace.
If I had a prophetic word for you and me this morning it would be; “Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old.” (The good as if that was all there was the things of the past, and the pain, as if that is all there is now) “Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?”
Prayer:
Father, my Savior, Creator and Redeemer, I will not dwell on the past blessings as if that was all the good there was. I know there is much more good to come. Help me to forget the pains, the disappointments and the sorrows, wipe away the tears, You are doing a new thing in me and my family.
