Matthew 6: 9,11 ESV
“Our Father in heaven…give us this day our daily bread…”
Typically when I get to this point of the Lord’s prayer, (I use it as a guide for my morning prayer in my devotions) I do not only ask God for provisions only, but I ask him for much more for the day. Such as; wisdom, knowledge and understanding of his ways and of his Holy Word.
I also ask for wisdom, knowledge and understanding of the world in general. I ask for wisdom, knowledge and understanding on my job, how to do my job,, and how to respond to the people that I come in contact with today.
God is not a bank or grocery store or a clothing store but He has promised if we will seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness that all these things will be added to us. Far beyond the provisions that we need.
We need God to give us wisdom, knowledge and understanding for the day. We need wisdom, knowledge and understanding of what to listen to and what not to listen to, to know where to go and where not to go.
Prayer:
Father, give me this day what we need to survive. Also give me wisdom, knowledge and understanding to be who I am supposed to be today to bring You joy!
