Going Out, Coming In

Psalms 12:8 ESV
“The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore.”

When we put our trust in God, we essentially say that we trust God with our life and the lives of our families and loved ones. We don’t want anything to happen to us or our family today or any day, but we know God knows our life span to the second.

So, what we do every day is, we ask that God’s will be done in us and our family and loved ones. God will bring us no evil, that comes from the enemy. At times God will allow us to go through times of testing, like He did with Job, but the end results of Job’s life were wisdom, knowledge and discretion and an abundant blessing.

Was it worth it to Job to have nine months of his life uprooted with untold suffering for what He received in the end…I have to say I think it was. But more so it proved that faithfulness to God is stronger than suffering. It proved that satan is a liar, it proved that God is in control.

We don’t like times of evil or testing, but we do live in a fallen world. This world is not our home, we were made to live out our existence here on earth in allegiance to God.

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in times of trouble (Psalms 46). Jesus said, “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

We can expect trouble in this world, but He has promised peace through the rough patches of this life. So, what do we do about today’s activities and troubles? We trust that “the Lord will keep our going out and our coming in from this time forth and forevermore.”

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, all we have is You. You are our sun in the morning You are our strength and wisdom throughout the day, and You are our help and solace in the evening. You have the words of eternal life; in Your hand we can expect peace in the midst of the storms of this life. We hold to You our anchor and rock of refuge. We give our lives into Your hands. In Your name Lord Jesus we pray, Amen!
