The Whole Armor

Ephesians 6:10-12 ESV

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.”

Some will say, this battle is the Lords not mine, and that answer works for those people. Others struggle in this intense battle that goes on day after day. First, this battle is the enemy wanting to come in and kill, steal and destroy us. His tactics are worry, doubts, fears, temptations, anger, finances, broken relationships, money, and a false sense of security as well as many other schemes that we experience.

Paul says for those that feel this intense battle day after day, “Put on the whole armor of God,” and I would add that if I may, every day. The reason for the armor is that we can stand against the schemes of the enemy. Being able to stand against all of the enemy’s devices takes complete trust in God for all things and believing that He protects and provides. For the next few days, I will go through the armor and what it means to us a His children and fellow soldiers of the cross. After all the battle is ragging whether we believe it or not and we are the victims of that battle.

Prayer:

Lord, the battle is ragging. Thank You for being in control of this battle and thank You for strengthening us for the battle that rages both day and night, and for some especially at night. Fight the fight for us Lord. Paul said, the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through You for the pulling down the strongholds of the enemy (2 Corinthians 10:4), pull down every stronghold Lord. In Your name we ask, Amen!
