The Master is Seeking for Us

John 4:6b-10 ESV
“Jesus, wearied as he was from his journey, was sitting beside the well. It was about the sixth hour. A woman from Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, ‘Give me a drink.’ (For his disciples had gone away into the city to buy food.) The Samaritan woman said to him, ‘How is it that you, a Jew, ask for a drink from me, a woman of Samaria?’ (For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.) Jesus answered her, ‘If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.”

Face it, we all have times in our life where the Master comes looking for us, no matter where we are physically, mentally or spiritually. We all need Jesus; we all need the wisdom only He can bring. We need His love, His acceptance, His understanding in our lives.

This woman at the well was seeking for meaning in life. She had been through many relationships but none of them met her needs, none of them fulfilled her life and gave her meaning.

We often are defined by our predicaments, our environment, our surroundings, the people that we associate with. But our environment and the things that we have been through in life does not define who we are, but where we have been.

We are new in Christ, old has passed away and all things are made new in Him. That is why I love the morning times, no matter what happened yesterday or last month or last year or ten years ago, today is a brand-new day, a fresh start. We may have to contend with things from our past, but it does not have to define who we are.

The Master is calling today, lay down your burdens at His feet.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, no matter what we have been through, You are here to put us on the right path. You are here to redefine our mission. The mission never changed, but we often times get sidetracked and get our minds off the mission and on to circumstances. This morning, as we meet You at the well, draw from the well and give us a fresh drink of Your living water. In Your name Lord Jesus we ask, Amen!
