Blessed
Psalms 1:1-3 ESV
“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.”
I never tire of reading this Psalm. What is it about these three little verses that is so compelling? It stretches me. It sets the bar high, but still attainable. It inspires hope.
The first verse sets a standard for integrity and purity. The second verse sets a pattern of meditation for rising to the top, being successful, becoming blessed beyond measure. The third verse shows the results of living in integrity and following hard after God
The person that lives this way is strong in Jesus. He or she bears amazing fruit for our Lord. They show no signs of decline or failure. Rather they are prosperous and show the blessings of God in their lives every day, because they live in the source of the power of the Holy Spirit.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus live through me. Guide me into the places I need to be and the people I need to be around on a repetitive basis. Let my thoughts and meditations be centered around You and the Father’s word. Then I will prosper, then I will have good success! In Your name Lord Jesus I ask, Amen!
