True Worship
Malachi 1:10 NKJV
“Who is there even among you who would shut the doors, So that you would not kindle fire on My altar in vain? I have no pleasure in you,” Says the Lord of hosts, “Nor will I accept an offering from your hands.”
In Malachi 1 God was sick and tired of improper sacrifices. The priest were offering lame, sick, and blind sacrifices to God and God had had enough of it. He was at this point in Malachi 1:10 where He said it was better to not sacrifice at all than to offer Him detestable sacrifices.
The Message Bible says it this way; “Why doesn’t one of you just shut the Temple doors and lock them? Then none of you can get in and play at religion with this silly, empty-headed worship. I am not pleased. The God-of-the-Angel-Armies is not pleased. And I don’t want any more of this so-called worship!”
The best way I can elaborate on this verse is to say; God is sick and tired of pretense in our worship. We have to give God our all-in worship, whether at home or in church or not give it at all. He deserves the best, not silly songs that bring Him no worship at all, that barely mentions God’s name at all. Songs that were only written to get the people excited and dance, songs that desecrate the temple.
Worship God as if He were standing right beside us because He is right beside us and in us.
Prayer:
I’m sorry Father for reducing my time of worship to, a couple quick choruses, a simple prayer, a couple of thanks and I’m done. You deserve so much more! You deserve my whole devotion, my whole heart!
