Hebrews 4:12 ESV

“For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, And discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”

I could write about this verse for hours but here is the main point; God’s word is a sword. Not just any sword, this sword can be used to defend against the evil one or it can be used to lift up the lives of souls around us, including ourselves. This sword reveals our own attitudes, thoughts and intentions. Not everyone wants that, but if we want to be pleasing to God, we will allow His sword to reveal our real motives.
