Joy
Psalms 30:5 NLT
“For His (God’s) anger lasts only a moment, but His favor lasts a lifetime! Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning.”
This passage was probably written because David had displeased God about a decision that he made without consulting God first. The results were a punishment, not just for David but for his people as well. David knew that when he relented, God would forgive and God did, David was back in favor with God. At that point David pens, that God’s favor was for life. Even if there are times when David stumbled, He could find the favor of God for all of his life and he did just that. The darkness or separation from the perfect will of God is temporary, the overwhelming joy of being in God’s favor comes back quickly.
Prayer:
Lord, even when I displease You, I know I still can find Your favor when I come running back to You. My sin separates, but Your favor instantly brings forgiveness and overwhelming joy. In Your name Lord Jesus, Amen!
