Unfailing Love
Psalms 23:6 AMP
“Surely goodness and mercy and unfailing love shall follow me all the days of my life,
And I shall dwell forever [throughout all my days] in the house and in the presence of the Lord.”
David ended this Psalm that we know so well with a blessing. Yes, David received this from God, but he had no problem with claiming these promises and blessings for himself because he knew how much God loved him.
I heard a gentleman say the other day on the radio that his daughter knew his heart and spirit well. She expected his favor, not arrogantly, but the kind of favor we have with God.
Here was his illustration. His daughter came into the room to her father and asked if she could go to the movies with her cousin and her cousin’s mom. She asked if she could get twenty dollars from him to be able to pay for her own way.
The father graciously said yes, she could go and if she would go into his room, she would find twenty dollars sitting on the dresser, she could take it. As she headed for the outside door, the father asked if she was going to get the money off of the dresser. She turned to her father and said, “I already got the twenty dollars off of the dresser because I knew you would say yes.”
Some will read this and think, I could never do that with my child, or grandchild. We have the favor of our God over our lives, we know He is going to bless us, we know He will graciously give to us. We know He has our best interest at heart.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, our Shepherd, because of Your graciousness in our lives, we have no wants. You always provide what we need, when we need it.
You for Your goodness, and mercy and unfailing love. In Your name Lord Jesus, Amen!
