His Song is With Me
Psalms 42:8 ESV
“By day the Lord commands his steadfast love, and at night His song is with me, a prayer to the God of my life.”
I typically wake up with a song playing in my head. At times I will run with it and just start singing it as I go about my busy day. At night time it is usually a prayer that takes me to sleep. As I pray, I sense the Lord’s favor and blessing.
I try to push back the day, because in fact it is over at this point, nothing can be changed. I do admit my failures, and when I may have missed the mark of doing my best. I ask God for His forgiveness, and the next morning, typically at some point when I wake in the middle of the night, I ask for His favor on the very beginning of the new day.
As the new day arrives and I see the sun coming through the windows, I already sense His favor, but I ask again anyway, because He loves to hear from us. As the new day comes, another song comes to my head. That is the best way for me to praise our Father, a song in my heart that eventually makes it to my voice.
Prayer:
Our Father, which is heaven, hallowed be Your name. You are great, mighty, awesome, full of love and mercy, and we thank you for this brand new day! Your kingdom come today, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven! In Your Holy name Father God, Amen!
