Proverbs 27:17 AMP
“As iron sharpens iron, So one man sharpens [and influences] another [through discussion].”
Almost everyone of my devotions come from something that has happened in my day, this devotion is no different. When a brother or a sister needs someone to lean on we have to be there to be a shoulder, a lift up, an encouragement, a real friend. We segment our lives, we keep to ourselves and often we want people to respect that.
As children of God, that is NOT who we are to be. Iron sharpens iron, that means;
•Show genuine care for people.
•Engage in regular honest conversations.
•Build genuine relationships.
•Coach one another.
•Strengthen one another.
It’s amazing to me how many people fail to communicate except with those whom we have to communicate with. The church as a whole will never be the church Jesus intended it to be if we cannot be entwined in each other’s lives and choose to enjoy life with one another. Everything I see in God’s word points to relationships. Relationships have to be nurtured.
Prayer:
Father, please help me to always be available to listen, to encourage, to be a real friend.
