No One to Condemn Us
Romans 7:24-8:2 NLT
“Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself serve the law of God with my mind, but with my flesh I serve the law of sin. So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death.”
Even though we were born into sin, we have escaped the condemnation because of the sacrifice of Jesus our Lord and Savior. Paul says in Romans 7 that when he wanted to do right, he would actually do the wrong thing.
That is a summation of our lives when we try to do things on our own. We will never be good enough no matter what we do on our own.
Romans 8:3b-4 says, “…He (God) sent his own Son in a body like the bodies we sinners have. And in that body God declared an end to sin’s control over us by giving his Son as a sacrifice for our sins. He did this so that the just requirement of the law would be fully satisfied for us, who no longer follow our sinful nature but instead follow the Spirit.” (Romans 8:3b-4)
So, when we accept Jesus’s sacrifice, we are no longer walking around in condemnation, but we walk in total freedom because of Jesus. Whom the Son has set free is free indeed. (John 8:36)
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, we walk in freedom because of the work that You did at Calvary. We can never thank You enough for what You have done for us. Amen!
