Give Me Boldness
Acts 4:29-30 ESV
“And now, Lord…grant to your servants to continue to speak your word with all boldness, while you stretch out your hand to heal, and signs and wonders are performed through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”
Peter and John were threatened by the council not to speak in the name od Jesus any more but they defied the order and asked God for boldness to speak more. We still have the right to speak in the name of Jesus in this country and I would exercise that right while we still have it.
How badly do we want to be bold in our witness? Would we rather just keep wishing we were bolder? Would we rather admire bold people, being inspired by biographies about bold people, all the while staying where we feel safe and relatively comfortable and letting fear go unchallenged?
Boldness is not easy for everyone. I remember as a young man, witnessing was frightening. What was there to be afraid of? Mostly rejection or ridicule, we fear those things the most. As I matured, boldness got easier. When I witness, and am rejected, I’ve planted the seed, now let somebody water that seed.
I still want more boldness. I believe we are in the last days and the truth found in Jesus must be told. The wicked run away when no one is chasing them, but the godly are as bold as lions. (Proverbs 28:1 NLT)
Prayer:
Father, I pray the same prayer of Peter and John, give me supernatural boldness, and by the way, while I am speaking boldly Father, keep performing miracles in the name of Jesus.
