Ask and Praise
Psalms 103:1,5 ESV
“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”
I think what David is calling for is blessing, praising in words and song the goodness of God. Praise has to be more prominent than asking.
For example, if one of our children were to ask us to do something for them, I would do my best to do the right thing, to provide if it was for their good. If our child kept coming back and asking repeatedly, I as a human being would become exasperated. If our child would ask and believe that we will do our best for them, that is a motivation that I can get behind.
God is not like humans, if we ask, He does what He needs to do to provide or give us patience to wait. Sometimes he will let us know why we do not need the thing that we are asking for at this time.
What I believe is the best that I can do after the point of asking God is to begin to praise God for His love, mercy and provisions. I know He wants the best for me. He is not a stingy God; he is a God who abundantly provides.
So, David says to himself. Bless the Lord spirit inside of me, praise Him, love Him adore Him. He has and He will satisfy us with good things.
Prayer:
Thank You Lord for Your grace, mercy, and peace. Many this morning need You, they need provisions, they need answers, they need vindication, they need to see Your hand move in their situations. So, I ask, and I praise You because I know You Lord, I know that the answer is on the way! In Your name I lift up praise and adoration and thanksgiving for every answer, whether it is the way I want it to be answered or not, thank you! Amen!
