This Life Is Only a Moment

2 Corinthians 4:16b-17 NLT
“Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day.  For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever!”

Paul, writing these verses refused to lose heart, he would not give into the temptation to live in despair. He wanted his readers to know that his outward appearance was deceiving. Yes, he was physically wasting away because of his suffering for preaching the gospel. Inwardly, though, he was being made as good as new every day. He was strong and determined and more convinced than ever of his purpose to carry the light of the gospel to the world.

For us, this life for some is a drudgery; pains, sorrows, heartaches and worries have weighed some down. How do we overcome these problems of life? By realizing the purpose we have in the Spirit realm. Even “though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed…(then) we realize that our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs…” (all of our troubles.)

Focus is the key, not focusing on our troubles, we choose to focus on spiritual things, things that are eternal. Though we seem to be wasting away, we realize what is important; spiritual newness of life that will lead us to life eternal with Jesus.

Prayer:
Lord, You know that this life is not easy, You lived it as well, but You focused on the spiritual things. Help us to live it in the same manner as You did. In Your name Lord, Amen!
