The Word

Mark 4:19 ESV
“But the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches and the desires for other things enter in and choke the word, and it proves unfruitful.”

Most of us have heard or read the Bible most of our lives. It promises to be fruitful if we let it live in us. It promises us courage, power, faith and love if we let it flow through us. However, the cares of this life can choke out the word in our hearts and minds.if we let them.

The cares of this life are diatractions like needing to make more money, needing more things, needing to be prominent in society. To get out of this trap Paul says in Romans 12:2a, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”

Plant the Word, cultivate the Word. Let God water the word in us and it will choke out these other things that are only good for a moment. God’s word is quick and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword. (Hebrews 4:12a)

Prayer:
Father, as we listen and read Your Words, let Your Words live in us today. Plant Your Words in us, cultivate Your Words in us. Choke out the things that are trying to choke out Your Words in us. In Jesus name, Amen!
