The Message of the Cross
1 Corinthians 1:18 AMP
“For the message of the cross is foolishness [absurd and illogical] to those who are perishing and spiritually dead [because they reject it], but to us who are being saved [by God’s grace] it is [the manifestation of] the power of God.”
We have a challenge in witnessing to people in this world, not everyone’s heart is open to the gospel of Jesus Christ. To some, the message of the cross is absurd and and they believe they are just stories and there is no after life, no consequences.
To that I say, “good luck,” with that vain of thinking, and I don’t even believe in luck. But getting back to the message of the cross or the gospel (the life, teachings, death of Jesus, to pay for our penalty for sin, and the resurrection), God is preparing people every day for the message of the cross, so we cannot differentiate on who we can and who we cannot offer salvation through Jesus Christ to, it’s free to all. To us the message of the cross means real life and peace. To those in the world, if they are honest, they are looking for real life and real peace.
Those who think the message of the cross is foolishness are foolish to believe it never happened. We who believe in Jesus and the gospel, have hope every day of His blessings and peace and His return. Even the vilest sinner gets a chance of forgiveness. Always offer the message of the cross to everyone. If they reject it, pray for them and that someone else will come along and offer the gospel to them again.
Prayer:
Lord, the message of the cross is “[the manifestation of] the power of God.” Help me to offer the message of the cross to everyone who will listen.
