Guard Your Heart

Proverbs 4:23 NIV

“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”

The center of a person’s spirit rests in his or her spiritual heart. The spiritual heart at times is very delicate, fragile, but it can be strong and resilient if God resides there.

Guarding our hearts is about protecting ourselves from external and internal factors. We must be mindful of the things we think about, the things we set our affections on, and the things we give our attention to.

Our hearts have a significant impact on our relationship with God, and the condition of our heart can either draw us closer to Him or push us away from Him.

The heart impacts our relationship with others as well. It can draw us closer to others or estrange us from them. So, the appropriate prayer to pray is:

Prayer:

Lord, lead our hearts to follow hard after You. As we protect my hearts, we ask that You guide us so that we know the way clearly. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Our hearts are for You Lord, our hearts seek after You and Your ways, and far from the ways of the advisory. Fill our hearts with Your goodness and mercies that our hearts will always reflect You. In Your name, Lord Jesus, I ask, Amen!
