Pleasing God

Galatians 1:10 NLT

“Obviously, I’m not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ’s servant.”

Paul confronted the church at Galatia about their listening to people that were offering a twist to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In fact, these people (Judaizers) were teaching that the Gentile Christians had to adhere to the laws of the Old Testament in order to be saved. Paul’s outrage was, “Why are you listening to a different Gospel?”

I have seen it since I was about 19 years old, some ministers stand in the pulpit and make the Gospel of Jesus Christ sound pretty or more pleasing. Some have the audacity to make it almost impossible to be a child of God by their words. In fact, the good news (the Gospel) about Jesus Christ is: He suffered and died for our sins, was buried, and was resurrected on the third day, offering salvation and reconciliation with God to anyone who would turn and believe in Him. Our responsibility to this good news? Turn away from sin and run to God and let Him do a new work in us through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, changing us from the inside out. We can’t earn our way to heaven or be good enough to be in Heaven, it all has to go through the work of Jesus Christ in our lives.

Prayer:

Lord, the Gospel is truth, and it is life. There is nothing to add to the Gospel and nothing to take away from the Gospel. In it is the power of God to take away our sins and unrighteousness and the power to make us sons and daughters of God through our acceptance of Jesus Christ in our heart and lives. Let our words be few, but let our message be with anointing and power. In Your name Lord Jesus, Amen.
